The main natural resources of the state include mineral resources (especially niobium, iron, steel and gold) and water.
Niobium is commonly used in metal alloys, with iron, steel, zirconium. These alloys are used in the manufacturing of structures, welding materials, gas piping, super allows for the manufacture of jet engines and the manufacture of jewelry, due to the high resistance to corrosion, high temperatures and as a superconductor in cryogenic medium.
The ceramics and glass industries are the main consumers of feldspar in Brazil. In the ceramics industry, feldspar is a fluxing agent (reducing the fusion temperature), as well as providing silica. In the manufacturing of glass, feldspar is used as a fluxing agent and as source of alumina, alkalis and silica. Feldspar is also used as the mineral cargo of paint, plastic, rubber and mild abrasive industries, and as input for wilding electrodes.
